Elementary Faith Formation

Religious Education at Risen Christ begins in kindergarten and continues through 5th grade, with the choice of attending class on Sundays from 10AM-11AM or Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Our curriculum seeks to instill knowledge and love of the faith while encouraging deep and personal relationships with Christ that evolve with the students’ development.

  • Kindergarten/1st Grade: This is a fun, two-year class that teaches about God’s love and some of the foundational prayers using crafts, songs, and stories.
  • 2nd Grade: “Reconciliation” This class prepares 2nd graders to go to First Confession in the spring by focusing on the Ten Commandments, Bible stories, and introducing the Examination of Conscience in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
  • Unconfirmed 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades: “Sacramental Prep” The Archdiocese of Denver is one of a growing number of dioceses to adopt the ‘Restored Order’ of the Sacraments of Initiation to reflect the tradition in the early Church: first baptism, followed by Confirmation, and completed with First Holy Communion. This class prepares 3rd graders and their unconfirmed 4th and 5th grade counterparts for the single Mass celebrating both Confirmation and First Holy Communion on May 1, 2020.
  • Confirmed 4th and 5th Grades: This year’s class focuses on Jesus’ divinity, ministry, and miracles to reveal how he is the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. Using plays, crafts, and games, students grow in knowledge of—and relationship with—Christ himself.
