Elementary School Faith Formation

Religious Education at Risen Christ begins in kindergarten.  In our Kindergarten—5th Grade faith formation program, our curriculum seeks to instill knowledge and love of the faith while encouraging deep and personal relationships with Christ that evolve with the student’s development.

Join us for a local alternative to Vacation Bible School: a week-long boot camp for the future saints among us. We’ll learn about the saints, play games, read stories, make crafts, and eat snacks! Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 23-27. Sign up for all five days, or just a few, whichever works best for your family. Best of all, it’s free!

This boot camp is designed for elementary school students, ages 4 through 5th grade. Middle and high school students are encouraged to sign up to help!

FAITH FORMATION
CHILDREN
2024 - 2025

Pre-K program
Sunday mornings

Our Pre-K classes consist of Bible stories, coloring, crafts, learning prayers, and snacks. Our goal is to reinforce that each student is loved specially and specifically by Jesus, and to make Risen Christ a safe, supportive, and fun place to be!
The program is designed for four- and five-year-olds not yet in kindergarten.  [Kindergarteners should enroll in our Wednesday night programming using the Elementary Religious Ed registration.]  We will consider mature, potty-trained three-year-olds who will turn four during the school year. Registration is required as this is not a drop-in class!
Our Pre-K is held on Sundays during the 9 AM Mass,  October 6, 2024 and meet through April, 2025, during the 9 AM Mass on Sundays on the 2nd floor of the Emmaus Center; pick up is promptly at 10 AM or as soon as Mass is dismissed.

Kindergarten / First Grade
Wednesday evenings

This is a fun, two-year class that teaches about God’s love and some of the foundational prayers using crafts, songs and stories.

2nd Grade: “Reconciliation”
Wednesday evenings

This class prepares 2nd graders to go to First Confession in the spring by focusing on the Ten Commandments, Bible stories, and introducing the Examination of Conscience in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.

Unconfirmed 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade: “Sacramental Prep”
Wednesday evenings

This class prepares unconfirmed 3rd, 4th and 5th graders for the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist, following the Restored Order used in the archdiocese of Denver.  Confirmation and First Communion are received during a special Mass in early May.

Confirmed 4th and 5th Grades
Wednesday evenings

This year’s class focuses on Jesus’ divinity, ministry, and miracles to reveal how he is the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. Using plays, crafts, and games, students grow in knowledge of—and relationship with—Christ himself.
