In Sacred Scripture, the Church constantly finds her nourishment and her strength, for she welcomes it not as a human word, “but as what it really is, the word of God.” “In the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven comes lovingly to meet his children, and talks with them.”
– Catechism of the Catholic Church
Elementary School Religious Education
Religious Education at Risen Christ begins in kindergarten and continues through the 5th grade. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Our curriculum seeks to instill knowledge and love of the faith while encouraging deep and personal relationships with Christ that evolve with the students’ development. This year, we are offering both in-person and online options in response to Covid-19.
This is a fun, two-year class that teaches about God’s love and some of the foundational prayers using crafts, songs, and stories.
2nd Grade: “Reconciliation”
This class prepares 2nd graders to go to First Confession in the spring by focusing on the Ten Commandments, Bible stories, and introducing the Examination of Conscience in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
Unconfirmed 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades: “Sacramental Prep”
The Archdiocese of Denver has adopted the ‘Restored Order’ of the Sacraments of Initiation to reflect the tradition in the early Church: first Baptism, followed by Confirmation, and then First Holy Communion. This class prepares 3rd graders and unconfirmed 4th and 5th graders for both Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
Confirmation and First Holy Communion Mass
Sat., May 8, 2021 at 6:30 PM
Confirmed 4th and 5th Grades
This year’s class focuses on Jesus’ divinity, ministry, and miracles to reveal how he is the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. Using plays, crafts, and games, students grow in knowledge of—and relationship with—Christ himself.
Middle School Ministry
Our Middle School program is for students in grades 6 – 8. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades participate in a weekly youth group based on the Edge model. Middle school meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For students who have not yet been confirmed, weekly participation is expected, in addition to attendance at sacramental preparation workshops.
High School Ministry
Risen Christ High School Youth Group seeks to give teens and opportunity to encounter Christ in an intimate and personal way. We strive to plant the seed of faith, and set our teens up for a lifelong relationship with the Lord. We also build a strong community where everyone is known and loved. All are welcome! Join us to learn about your faith, make new friends, and grow closer to God.
Our High School program is for students in grades 9 – 12. We meet on Sunday evenings after the 5:30 p.m. Mass.
Adult Faith Formation
Adult Faith Formation at Risen Christ focuses on two aspects – spiritually enriching programs for every adult in the parish, and faith formation and sacramental preparation for those seeking to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church by Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation (our RCIA program).
