One of the hardest things we can experience is losing a loved one. We are sorry for your loss, and we would like to do what we can to help support you during this time.
Through Baptism, a Catholic begins their faith journey with the belief that death is not the end nor does it break the bonds forged in life. Since the Mass is the central source and summit of our faith, Catholic funerals are not very different from a Sunday Mass and include introductory rites, liturgy of the Word, liturgy of the Eucharist, and the final commendation. Funeral Masses are normally held at 9:30 a.m. Monday mornings, and at 10:00 a.m/ Tuesday through Thursday mornings.
You might also want to consider a vigil service with rosary the night prior to the funeral.
Please call (303-758-8835) or email (jiske@risenchristchurch.org) Jeanne Iske directly and she will assist you in scheduling and planning your loved one’s funeral Mass. To help you get started, below you will find links to the choices for the Mass readings and music options.
Vigil
1. Vigil and Visitation
The Vigil is time for family, and members of the community to gather in prayer and support, in remembrance of a treasured life. Often times, a rosary is prayed and eulogies are delivered. This is usually held at the mortuary the evening before the funeral Mass.
Funeral Liturgy
2. Funeral Liturgy
The Funeral Mass is the principal celebration of the Christian Funeral. Family and friends join to reaffirm that life has not ended. It is the memorial of Christ’s sacrifice and it is a reminder that we are one with Christ in Life, Death, and Resurrection.

EULOGY A Eulogy is not part of the Mass of Christian Burial. We allow for a brief (5 minute) eulogy to be given by a family member or close family friend prior to the start of Mass.

Committal
3. Committal
The Committal is the final farewell and good bye. It is the time of interment; the body is committed to its final resting place. Here, family and friends gather to take their final leave with the comfort and the promise of Everlasting Life in Resurrection.
Burial / Interment
Care should be taken that the cremated remains of the deceased are accorded proper respect through interment in blessed cemetery ground or in a mausoleum promptly. The keeping of the cremated remains by a relative or friend does not show due reverence to the deceased. Further, any scattering of the cremated remains, dividing of cremated remains among family members, and/or making cremated remains into jewelry are not permitted, because of the reverence due to the bodies and remains of the bodies of those who have been baptized and have been temples of the Holy Spirit.
