TENEBRAE
Apr. 19, 5:30– 6:30 a.m.
Tenebrae (which means ‘darkness’ in Latin) is the morning prayer of the church on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. It involves extinguishing candles one by one as Christ goes through his passion. While the majority of the ceremonies of the Catholic Church are joyous and celebratory, Tenebrae is sorrowful, from beginning to end, complete with darkness, earthquake, and Our Lord symbolically hidden from our view. Join us for this powerful event.

BLESSING OF THE EASTER FOOD
Sat. Apr. 19 , 10:30 a.m.
Bring your Easter meal to the church for a special blessing. The blessing of the food is a Catholic tradition and a festive occasion. People take special pride in preparing a decorative and tasteful basket with crisp linens, symbolizing Christ’s burial shroud. The basket could be decorated with colorful ribbons, greenery, or dried flowers to symbolize spring, renewal and the Resurrection. The creativity of the parishioners brings a special joy to this event. Click here for an explanation of the symbolism of the basket contents.

CORPUS CHRISTI ADORATION PROGRAM
Mon. Apr. 28, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
includes a talk from the 2024 Eucharistic Congress, personal prayer time, Benediction, and Eucharistic blessing
Fr. Mike Schmitz
Father Schmitz highlighted the importance of the Eucharist, not merely as the Real Presence of Jesus, but as the culmination of His sacrificial love. He explained, “The presence of Jesus is not the point of the Mass. The Real Presence makes the sacrifice possible.”
Father Schmitz’s address was a call to deeper conversion, inviting the faithful to embrace repentance as a pathway to genuine revival and a more profound appreciation of the Eucharistic sacrifice.
