The Search is a 7-week video series that tackles the key questions of every human heart. Experts from multiple fields of science, medicine, psychology, art, and religion examine our place in the larger story of existence.

This is a wonderful kick-off program for those considering becoming Catholic.

YOUNG ADULT: MEALS WITH CHRIST

Tues, July 21, 6:30 p.m.

Meals make up roughly one-fifth of the Gospel of Luke. Jesus uses the dinner table as a central setting for his ministry. Join us for ten weeks of Meals With Christ, where we explore who Jesus chose to sit and eat with. We’ll even provide food! Join us from June 30 to Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Room (upstairs). You don’t need a reservation, but join our GroupMe on our parish website so we can plan enough food.

FOOD BANK OF THE ROCKIES

Thur. July 23, 2 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to unload the truck from Food Bank of the Rockies, pre-box the food for our guests, then distribute the food with our drive-through process. We’ll need about 30 volunteers. To volunteer, email parishinfo@risenchristchurch.org.

Iron Sharpens Iron allows men to grow in faith through friendships with other men.

 This group meets every Friday morning for one hour, both by zoom and in person, for a presentation and then small group discussion.

Well-known Catholic theologian Dr. Scott Hahn explains Christ’s Paschal Sacrifice on the cross as the fulfillment of the traditional fourth cup used in the celebration of the Jewish Passover meal. He draws a symbolic parallel to the Last Supper and Christ’s death on Calvary. Through his scholarly insights and important biblical connections, Mass will come alive for you as never before!

WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY

July 26

The World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be celebrated on Sunday, July 26, the Sunday closest to the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. The theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV for this year’s celebration is:

“I will never forget you” (Is 49:15). We will acknowledge all grandparents and the elderly in the parish with a special blessing after each weekend Mass.

JOHN VIANNEY RELIC VENERATION

Tues. Aug. 4

Join us as we honor St. John Vianney, the beloved patron of parish priests. His powerful words still inspire us today: “Do not try to please everybody, try to please God.”

After each Mass on August 4, his relic will be available in the sanctuary for veneration.

TRIUMPH OF THE HEART: THE MAXIMILIAN KOLBE MOVIE

Tuesday, August 4, 6:30 p.m.

Join us for the screening of “Triumph of the Heart: the Maximilian Kolbe Story”. St. Maximilian Kolbe was a Catholic priest in Auschwitz who gave up his life for another prisoner. Come watch his inspiring story.  We will be showing the movie in the John Paul II Seminar Room, with theater seating, and we’ll serve popcorn and lemonade.

Come and share in the peace of Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as Vespers. As the sun sets, the stained glass windows cast their radiant reflections throughout the sanctuary, creating a sacred space for prayer and reflection.

MISSION APPEAL

Aug. 8 & 9

Our Mission Appeal weekend will be August 8&9.  It will benefit the Archdiocese of Onitsha, Nigeria.  Fr. Charles Anedo, Chaplain at St. Anthony Central Hospital, will be speaking at the Masses.  He is from the same archdiocese in Nigeria as Fr. Gabriel. Donations will be used to support training of youth, provide scholarships to Shanahan University from indigent families and vulnerable communities, and to continue studies for priests.  Checks should be made payable to Risen Christ with the name of the mission archdiocese in the memo line.

SPECIAL BLESSING FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

CHRIST IN THE CITY MEAL PREPARATION

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Because the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary falls on a Saturday this year, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be at 8:30 a.m., followed by a special Rosary led by Deacon Tom Piccone.
