CHRIST IN THE CITY MEAL PREPARATION

Help to feed the homeless! Volunteers from the parish are needed to bake a meal (recipe provided) that will be served by Christ in the City.  Prepared meals can be dropped off at the refrigerator in our parish kitchen on Tuesday. To volunteer, join our Christ in the City Flocknote email group.

FOOD BANK OF THE ROCKIES

We need 30 volunteers to unload the truck from Food Bank of the Rockies, box the food for our guests, and distribute the food in our “drive-through”. To volunteer, email parishinfo@risenchristchurch.org. 

We need volunteers to be trained to help with the registration of clients for our twice-monthly Food Bank of the Rockies food distribution program at Risen Christ. Spanish-speaking helpful. If you are interested, please contact steve@risenchristchurch.org.

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. [livestreamed], and on Friday at 6:30 a.m., 8 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.  The parish office will be closed on Friday, and there is no Exposition in the Adoration Chapel.

PRAYER VIGIL AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD

Fri.  Aug. 15, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Join our Respect Life Ministry on the third Friday of each month to pray the Rosary at Planned Parenthood at 7155 E 38th Ave in Denver during ALL business hours. A visible presence of prayer makes a difference, and can save the life of an unborn child. Join us when you can.

MISSION CO-OP

Aug. 23 – 24

Fr Frederick Sserugga from St Clare of Assisi parish, Edwards, will be making a mission appeal for his home diocese of Kampala Archdiocese, at Risen Christ on the weekend of August 23 and 24.

The appeal focuses on a residential home founded in 1975 to take care of the needy and most vulnerable in society called “Mapeera Bakateyamba’s Home” in Nalukolongo. Uganda does not have a social security system to cater for the aged. Elderly parents are usually catered for by their adult children. In cases where they do not have financially able grown-up children, many old people die miserably. That is where Mapeera Bakateyamba’s Home fills the gap. Currently the home has more than 150 residents. The Home is managed by the Good Samaritan Sisters, a local Religious Congregation whose mission is to take care of the vulnerable and disadvantaged. The home offers accommodation, food, medication, and counselling services to the disadvantaged. It is financed primarily by donations from charities and individuals.
The proceeds from this year’s appeal will help to renovate the now dilapidated buildings. Your generous donations will help the Kampala Archdiocese reach its goal.
