Confirmation

CONFIRMATION

“…Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.”

“…Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.”

The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation completes baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence, they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” – CCC 1285
In the Rite of Confirmation, the Bishop (or a Priest who represents the Bishop) extends his hands over you and asks the Holy Spirit to come to you with seven special graces, or gifts: wisdom, understanding, right judgment, courage, knowledge, reverence, and wonder & awe.
At Risen Christ, Confirmation is usually conferred to our third graders as part of the Restored Order (Reconciliation first, then Confirmation, then Eucharist).  We offer sacramental preparation programs for 3rd graders, for older youth who have not yet been confirmed, and for adults seeking to be confirmed.
