MUSIC NOTES – MARCH 2025

You have heard beautiful Latin music at our Masses many times. Even when you don’t know the words, the music washes over you and invites you into the beauty of God’s presence. This Lent we will be singing a couple of the Mass parts in Latin chant: the “Holy Holy Holy” and the “Lamb of God.” Father Paul and our music director John have recorded a video of them singing these parts (with chant notation) to help all of us become familiar with the music we’ll be singing this Lent. Click HERE.

The Adult Choir sings every Sunday (but not the 2nd Sunday of the month) at  the 9:00 a.m.  Sunday Mass, September through May. The Adult Choir will also sing at the 9:00 a.m. Christmas Mass.

Rehearsals are on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. start when there is a Marian Monday presentation.  We are structuring the rehearsals such that it will be accessible for those with no prior musical experience while still being challenging for longtime musicians. For all parishioners 18+.

This is a great opportunity for growing in community and glorifying the Lord through music!

St. Joseph Men's Choir

St. Joseph's Choir Interest Form
Join our St. Joseph Men’s Choir!
This is a lower commitment choir that meets roughly once a month for rehearsals, and sing at 4 Masses throughout the year: the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Palm Sunday, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Feast of the Holy Family.
This a good fit for those looking to get involved with more time constraints.  Rehearsals will be scheduled so that men can also participate in the Adult Choir.
This is a great opportunity for growing in community and glorifying the Lord through music!  For men 18+.

The Children’s Choir for 1st through 8th  grade boys and girls sings the second Sunday of each month at  the 9:00 a.m.  Sunday Mass, from October through May. The Children’s Choir also sings at the 4 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass and at the 9 a.m. Easter Mass.

Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 5:30 – 6:20 p.m. from September through May. Rehearsals will include activities from the Ward method, which helps children develop musically and become well trained in solfège singing.

A great opportunity for children to develop in musical knowledge!

Children's Christmas Orchestra

We will have a Children’s Christmas Orchestra, for children in grades 4 through 12, who have at least one year of experience playing an orchestral instrument.  Join other students from the parish in playing Christmas music together.

Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 5:30 – 6:20 p.m. from September through December.

Youth Choir Interest Form

Gathering interest – Youth Choir

We are gathering interest in a youth choir (7th-12th grade), please fill out the form if interested!

This group will sing at the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Sundays, and rehearsals will be Sundays before Mass at 4:45 p.m.

We are looking for talented instrumentalists to help add another layer of beauty to the music at Mass!  In particular, we are looking for string players (violin, viola, cello) and trumpet players. The time commitment for instrumentalists will be flexible and we could use your help throughout the year (except during the seasons of Lent and Advent).
We are looking for individuals with conducting experience to help lead the adult choir on occasion. Please reach out to John if you are interested or use the interest form. Please note that conductors can also participate in the adult choir.
