Christ recognized we are both physical and spiritual beings, and He endowed the Apostles with the Holy Spirit in order to hear and forgive sins in ways that satisfy both body and spirit. This authority passed from Jesus to the Apostles, to the bishops and priests of the ages, and to our priests today.
If it has been a long time since you last confessed your sins, we welcome you back to the freedom and renewal that comes from turning away from the thoughts, words, and actions that separate us from God.
At Risen Christ, second graders prepare for the sacrament of Reconciliation as part of the Restored Order (Reconciliation first, then Confirmation, then Eucharist). We offer sacramental preparation programs for 2rd graders, for older youth who have not yet received the sacrament of Reconciliation, and for adults seeking to become Catholic.
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH CONFESSION?
If you want to understand the reasons why we have confession in the Catholic Church, or if you want to understand how to make a good confession, check out this 25-minute video on the “What? Why? and How?” of confession by our pastor, Fr. Scott Bailey.
