February 11 is the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, how appeared to Bernadette in the 19^th century. Learn about Our Lady’s appearance in the movie, “The Passion of Bernadette”.

It is the story of Our Lady’s apparitions at Lourdes to Bernadette Soubirous. The movie tells the rest of the story of her life after the Marian visions: the life that made Bernadette a holy. The Lourdes grotto is full of pilgrims and Bernadette goes to the convent of the Sisters of Nevers to dedicate her life to God. Under the harsh rule of the novice mistress who “does not believe in apparitions,” Bernadette, now Sister Marie Bernard, begins her life of achieving holiness through prayer, faith, suffering, and deep charity toward all. This film reveals the incessant illnesses and sufferings that Saint Bernadette endured patiently, even joyfully, throughout her life in the convent, often repeating her prayer to “suffer and offer it to God.” . She came to her eternal reward in 1879, at the age of 35. When her body was exhumed many years later, it was found to be incorrupt. Today it rests in a glass case in the chapel of the Sisters of Nevers, where millions of people have come to see “the little saint of Lourdes.”
